The work from 2005-2008 combines ideas of natural creation with those of man-made creation and what lies in between, such as cloning, cross-pollination, designer babies and plastic surgery. By utilizing images of familiar decorative patterns and products from circulars, mail-order catalogs and high-end decorating magazines and combining them with images of domestic environments taken at designer trade shows, interior design centers and botanical gardens, subconscious connections are made to everyday life.
Through these connections, I am interested in raising questions concerning want vs. need, the overabundance of choice in a commercial society as well as the waste that excess produces and ultimately, what the accumulation and discarding of this waste can simultaneously create and destroy.
